Hands-on Virtual Workshop: Diving into and benchmarking Presto C++, next-gen Presto (IST Timezone)

Presto C++ is the next-gen Presto engine built on Velox, an open-source C++ native acceleration library. It brings a state-of-the-art query processing engine to Presto that replaces Java workers in Presto clusters. 

In this workshop we’ll provide an overview of Presto C++, including motivations for building it, architecture, and roadmap. We’ll also get hand-on with Presto C++ to deploy, run and then benchmark it against Presto Java using the new open source tool pbench.

Course outline:

• Overview of Presto C++
• Create and deploy a Presto C++ cluster on your machine using Docker
• Use pbench to run a Presto C++ vs Presto Java benchmark

Note: We intentionally keep these virtual classes small to ensure a good instructor-to-participant ratio. Once we reach capacity, we will close registration and open a waitlist.
